My name is Matthew Stockburger, and my passion for music has been with me since childhood. I received my first guitar at the age of 12 and spent my teenage years busking on the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ while actively engaging in the local open mic scene. My deep connection to music naturally led me to luthiery when I decided to leave college, and I soon enrolled at the Galloup School of Guitar Building & Repair in Big Rapids, MI. At Galloup (July 2019 – July 2020), I built six guitars and earned four distinct certifications, which cemented my passion for the craft.
Following this, I gained valuable industry experience in both guitar construction and repair—first under my own banner as Stockburger Guitar Repair and then working under respected professionals such as Bourgeois Guitars. Eager to expand my skills further, I pursued additional training at the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix, AZ (January 2023-December 2024). Over the course of two years, I refined my repair techniques, built another six guitars, and completed the full curriculum. It was during this time that I designed and developed the base model for both my acoustic and electric instruments.
Today, as one of the youngest and most well-educated emerging luthiers in the industry, I am dedicated to collaborating with artists and guitar enthusiasts to create instruments that are as unique as they are exceptional. Every TerraTone Guitar is meticulously handcrafted, using only premium tonewoods, high-performance hardware, and a commitment to the highest standards of craftsmanship. I invite you to explore my work and join me on a journey where tradition meets innovation to create your dream instrument.
